Discutibile decisione presa dalla Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, che ogni anno assegna gli ambiti GLAAD Media Awards, riconoscimenti ai film, alle serie e agli show tv più LGBT. Dopo la nuova ondata di polemiche che ha travolto Bryan Singer, accusato di aver fatto sesso con tre minorenni nel lontano 1997, la nomination a Bohemian Rhapsody, inizialmente assegnata nella categoria ‘Outstanding Film – Wide Release’, è stata annullata.
«Nella sua risposta alla storia di Atlantic, Singer ha erroneamente usato “omofobia” per deviare dalle accuse di aggressione sessuale, e GLAAD esorta i media e l’industria in generale a non sorvolare sul fatto che i sopravvissuti all’assalto sessuale dovrebbero essere messi al primo posto».
Singer, tramite social, ha rigettato qualsiasi tipo di accusa, parlando di pura e semplice diffamazione da parte del The Atlantic, che a suo dire sarebbe andato alla ricerca di una notorietà mediatica a poche settimane dagli Oscar. Sui social in tanti hanno sostenuto il regista dei Soliti Sospetti, finito alla gogna anche nel 2014, quando venne accusato di violenze sessuali da un ragazzo nel pieno della campagna di lancio di X-Men – Giorni di un futuro passato. Accuse poi cadute, e mai arrivate in tribunale.
Nel dubbio, tra i film nominati spicca Love, Simon, mentre sono diventati 10 i titoli candidati con release ‘limitate’. Da Boy Erased a La Favorita, passando per The Miseducation of Cameron Post e Can You Ever Forgive Me?, in Italia ancora mai visto. Tra le serie, rischia di vincere tutto Ryan Murphy, sugli scudi grazie a Pose e The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
