Finalmente ce l’ha fatta. Al suo 35esimo Grammy vinto, Beyoncé ha conquistato l’unico che le mancava, quello più importante. L’album dell’anno. Cowboy Carter ha infranto la maledizione che aveva visto fino ad oggi queen B sempre sconfitta ad un passo dal traguardo, tanto da suscitare l’ira di suo marito Jay-Z, fino a stanotte, quando Cowboy Carter ha conquistato anche il Grammy come miglior album country e il Grammy per Best Country Duo/Group Performance con “II Most Wanted” (feat. Miley Cyrus).
Beyoncé sempre più nella storia
Sul palco insieme alla popstar sua figlia Blue Ivy. Beyoncé è così diventata la prima donna nera a conquistare il Grammy “album of the year” dal lontanissimo 1999, quando a riuscirci fu Lauryn Hill. Kendrick Lamar ha sbancato la serata con 5 Grammy vinti grazie a “Not Like Us”, mentre Lady Gaga si è portata a casa il suo 14esimo Grammy con “Die with a Smile” (feat. Bruno Mars), eletta Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Nel corso della serata la popstar ha presentato in anteprima mondiale Abracadabra, suo nuovo singolo estratto dall’imminente nuovo disco in uscita. Nel ritirare il premio Gaga ha voluto lanciare un messaggio alla comunità trans d’America, sempre più sotto attacco.
“Le persone trans non sono invisibili. Le persone trans meritano amore. La comunità queer merita di essere innalzata. La musica è amore, grazie.”
Messaggio potente anche da parte di Shakira, che ha vinto il Grammy per il miglior album latino pop: “Voglio dedicare questo premio ai miei fratelli e sorelle immigrati in questo Paese. Siete amati e combatterò sempre per voi”.

Chappell Roan è stata eletta Best New Artist dell’anno, con un lungo discorso interamente dedicato all’industria musicale: “Mi sono detta che se mai avessi vinto un Grammy e fossi arrivata qui di fronte alle persone più potenti della musica, avrei chiesto alle etichette del settore che guadagnano milioni di dollari dagli artisti di offrire uno stipendio dignitoso per l’assistenza sanitaria, specialmente agli artisti emergent. Dato che sono stata scritturata così giovane, sono stato scritturata quando ero minorenne. E quando sono stato abbandonata, non avevo nessuna esperienza lavorativa alle spalle. Come la maggior parte delle persone, ho avuto difficoltà a trovare un lavoro durante la pandemia e non potevo permettermi l’assicurazione sanitaria”. “È stato così devastante sentirmi così impegnata nella mia arte e sentirmi così tradita dal sistema, e così disumanizzata, per non avere l’assistenza sanitaria. Se la mia etichetta avesse dato la priorità alla salute degli artisti, avrei potuto ricevere assistenza da un’azienda a cui stavo dando tutto. Le etichette discografiche devono trattare i loro artisti come dipendenti preziosi con uno stipendio dignitoso, un’assicurazione sanitaria e una protezione”. “Etichette, vi abbiamo capito, ma voi avete capito anche noi?” ha concluso la pop star tra scroscianti applausi.
Sul red carpet Chappell aveva voluto esprimere anche la propria vicinanza alla comunità trans: “È brutale in questo momento, ma le persone trans sono sempre esistite e esisteranno per sempre. E non toglieranno mai, non importa cosa accada, la gioia trans. Questa deve essere protetta più di ogni altra cosa, perché non sarei qui senza le ragazze trans”.
Il Grammy Award come Best New Artist è diventato una piattaforma importante per gli artisti queer negli ultimi anni. Negli ultimi 6 anni abbiamo visto trionfare Billie Eilish (2020), Megan Thee Stallion (2021), Victoria Monét (2024) e Chappell Roan (2025). Tutte artiste queer. Le due uniche eccezioni sono state Olivia Rodrigo (2022) e Samara Joy (2023).

Doppio Grammy per Sabrina Carpenter (Best Pop Vocal Album e Best Pop Solo Performance con il tormentone Espresso), così come ha festeggiato Charli XCX, vincitrice di 3 Grammy (Best Dance/Electronic Album con Brat, Best Recording Package e Best Dance Pop Recording con Von Dutch). Per quanto riguarda gli altri artisti dichiaratamente LGBTQIA+, St. Vincent ha vinto 3 Grammy su 4 nomination, Doechii un Grammy e Kacey Musgraves un Grammy su 4 candidature. Niente da fare per Troye Sivan con Got Me Started.
