Emmy 2021, Mj Rodriguez di Pose fa la Storia: prima attrice trans candidata di sempre

La 3a e ultima stagione della serie FX ha strappato 9 candidature. Tra le principali spiccano quella come miglior serie drama, per il miglior attore drama Billy Porter (in passato già vincitore) e soprattutto per la miglior attrice drama Mj Rodriguez, che è così ufficialmente diventata la prima attrice transgender a riuscire nell'impresa. The Crown e The Mandalorian guidano il listone delle nomination con 24 candidature, seguite da WandaVision (23), The Handmaid's Tale (21), Saturday Night Live (21), Ted Lasso (20), Lovecraft Country (18), The Queen's Gambit (18) e Mare of Easttown (16). HBO/HBO Max ha ottenuto 130 candidature, seguita dalle 120 di Netflix, dalle 71 di Disney+ con 71 e dalle 46 di NBC. Rimanendo in ambito LGBT da segnalare anche le 9 nomination della strepitosa “I May Destroy You”, serie britannica creata e scritta da Michaela Coel per BBC One e HBO, con il bravissimo Paapa Essiedu, che interpreta un ragazzo gay stuprato, nominato tra i migliori attori non protagonisti, così come l'ennesima pioggia di candidature (9) per RuPaul's Drag Race, le 6 candidature di Queer Eye, le 5 di Ratched, le 3 di The Politician, le 5 di Halston, le 3 di Euphoria e Uncle Frank, con Paul Bettany omosessuale mai accettato dal padre, nominato come miglior film tv. La 73a edizione dei Primetime Emmy Awards, presentata da Cedric the Entertainer, si terrà il 19 settembre.
