33enne attore statunitense nato e cresciuto a Long Island, Jordan Firstman è esploso nel 2023 con il folgorante e strabordante Rotting in the Sun di Sebastián Silva, in cui ha interpretato una versione caricaturale di sè stesso in un vortice di droghe, sesso, uomini e misteri.

Visto anche in 3 episodi di Ms. Marvel, Jordan Firstman (oltre 800.000 follower solo su IG) debutta ora nel mondo della musica con l’album “Secrets” e il singolo “I Wanna See My Friends’ D***ks“, trainato da un video in cui nel bel mezzo di un party ad alto tasso alcolico va a caccia dei “ca**i” dei suoi amici. Tra poliziotte, limonate, fiumi di birra, vomito ed eccessi di vario tipo, Firstman porta anche nell’industria musicale quella che è sempre stata la sua cifra stilistica, provocatoria, sessualmente esplicita e sboccata, cantando di peni “circoncisi, cicciottelli, incappucciati, corti o lunghi, pelosi, muschiati e puliti“.
Secrets, che uscirà l’11 aprile, si presenta come una raccolta di canzoni che Firstman ha scritto traendo ispirazione dalle confessioni segrete che da anni i suoi follower gli inviano in forma anonima su Instagram. Una vera e propria rubrica che è diventata ora album.
Intervistato da Billboard Firstman ha rivelato di aver lavorato con il suo amico Brad Oberhofer per creare le sonorità di Secrets, che a suo dire abbracciano una varietà di generi tra cui jazz, country, grunge e funk. L’album include la produzione di Sega Bodega e Blake Slatkin, meglio conosciuto per il suo lavoro con Lil Nas X e Charli xcx. Anche Zach Dawes, frequente collaboratore di Lana Del Rey, ha preso parte al progetto. Via Instagram Firstman ha elaborato ulteriormente il contenuto dell’album, parlando di una musica “molto incentrata sul sesso“.
“Devi coinvolgerli con il sesso, so che funziona“, ha spiegato Jordan, che ha poi anticipato l’arrivo di una trovata pubblicitaria scandalosa e volgare come parte della campagna promozionale dell’album.
“Una cosa che farò tra un paio di settimane, è la cosa più stravagante che abbia mai fatto nella mia carriera e forse nella mia vita. È davvero la cosa più folle che abbia mai fatto e ho molta paura di farla, ma temo di doverlo fare“.
Il comico si è detto pronto ad apparire in un talk show notturno per promuovere l’album, ma l’impresa si sta rivelando difficile perché molte delle canzoni sono troppo esplicite per essere eseguite in televisione. Seppur quasi invendibile da un punto di vista mainstream, l’album uscirà con l’etichetta Capitol Records, casa di artisti come Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Troye Sivan e Ice Spice.
“I Wanna See My Friends’ Dicks” è di fatto il brano che racchiude in tutto e per tutto l’essenza di Secrets, disco manifesto di un artista dichiaratamente e orgogliosamente queer che non ha paura di raccontare sempre e solo sè stesso, con tutti i propri eccessi, desideri, pulsioni sessuali e libertà espressive.
