Che Manu Ríos voglia debuttare nel magico mondo dei musical? L’ex modello diventato attore con Elite, poi visto in un corto di Pedro Almodovar e da poco tornato su Netflix con la serie Respira, ha infatti sbalordito i propri follower social con una sorprendente versione piano e voce di ‘Good Luck, Babe’, tormentone radio di Chappell Roan. Un Rios clamorosamente intonato sulle note della meravigliosa canzone, con una chitarra al fianco del pianoforte a conferma di una passione per la musica che Manu non ha mai nascosto.

Per la sua inattesa cover Ríos ha optato per un approccio più soft, con tanto di impeccabile falsetto una volta arrivato al ritornello. Il video è stato travolto dai like e dai commenti, a ribadire la poliedricità di un giovane divo che punta al decollo definitivo provando ad andare oltre la serialità televisiva a tinte spagnole. Tra i tantissimi commenti c’è chi ha chiesto un album di cover a Rios, e chi lo ha pregato di registrare l’intero brano e caricarlo su Spotify. Prima di esplodere come modello e come attore Manu è stato un adolescente che pubblicava cover su YouTube, lavorando anche alla registrazione di un EP, poi mai uscito.
“Quando avevo 15 anni iniziai un progetto musicale negli Stati Uniti“, ha confessato Ríos in un’intervista con Harper’s Bazaar Spagna all’inizio di quest’anno. “Ma proprio quando avevo pronto il mio EP, ho firmato con Netflix e ho deciso di dedicarmi alla recitazione. Preferisco concentrarmi su una cosa piuttosto che coprire troppe cose. Anche se la musica è essenziale per me e ci riproverò“. Che sia arrivato il momento di far riemergere quell’antico amore? Nel dubbio Manu tornerà ad interpretare Biel de Felipe nella 2a stagione di Respira, ancora non ufficializzata ma data quasi per scontata.
