In Dramboy, nuovo brano lanciato nelle ultime ore per trainare il singolo Hotbox, in uscita il 14 marzo, il rapper di Atlanta prende in giro la propria sessualità, i suoi detrattori omofobi e riflette sul suo discontinuo successo nell’industria musicale.

Lil prosegue facendo riferimento alle reazioni emerse quando fece coming out, nel 2019: “Mi odiate e non me lo merito. Ho sentito la m**da che dite su di me quando siete dentro le chiese. Voi puzzolenti putt*ne prendete il mio divertimento e lo rendete una miseria”.
Il 25enne ha fatto arrabbiare la destra cattolica d’America con i suoi testi ironici e le provocatorie immagini dei suoi video, come nel chiacchierato “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” del 2021, che lo vedeva precipitare all’inferno e fare un lap dance al diavolo.
Due volte vincitore del Grammy Award, in “Dreamboy” Lil affronta con leggerezza l’insuccesso di questi ultimi anni, con singoli che non sono riusciti a scalare le classifiche come accaduto precedentemente.
“Sono benedetto, sono nato per vincere. Sto cag*ndo sui neg*i, come lo scat porn”, canta il rapper, per poi aggiungere: “Sono quello che hanno fatto tornare indietro. I tre grandi successi di Lil Nas X sono “Montero“, “Old Town Road” e “Industry Baby“, in grado di raggiungere il primo posto nella chart Billboard. L’anno scorso il rapper ha dato il via alla sua nuova era stuzzicando i fan con un secondo album, seguito di Montero del 2021, ma le canzoni pubblicate fino ad oggi non hanno fatto furore. Anzi. “J Christ“, uscito a inizio 2024, ha esordito alla posizione numero 69, mentre le canzoni successive “Where Do We Go Now?“, “Here We Go!“, “Light Again!” e “Need Dat Boy” non sono riuscite neanche ad entrare in classifica. Lil ha poi fatto scalpore sui social media con la canzone “Trust Me“. Dreamboy e l’imminente Hotbox faranno risorgere Lil Nas X anche in classifica?
