Sono due straordinarie serie Apple Tv+ a guidare il listone delle serie più nominate ai 77esimi Emmy, Oscar della tv, ovvero “Scissione” e “The Studio“, con 50 candidature complessive. 27 per la seconda stagione creata da Dan Erickson e 23 per l’esilarante serie firmata Seth Rogen. In testa alla chart degli studios con più nomination è però HBO Max, con 142 candidature. Un record per la piattaforma, che ha così superato le 140 del 2020, grazie ai boom di “The Penguin”, “The White Lotus“, “The Last of Us” e “Hacks“, seppur appaiono ancora inattaccabili le 160 di Netflix nel 2020.
Quali sono state le nomination a tematica LGBTQIA+ di questi Emmy 2025?
Tra le migliori serie comedy sono rimaste fuori dai giochi Overcompensating, Somebody Somewhere, Mid-Century Modern (che ha ottenuto 4 nomination minori) e Agatha All Along (3 candidature tecniche), ma sono presenti Hacks, Only Murders In The Building e What We Do In The Shadows. Tra quelle drama c’è Scissione, con la storia d’amore tra Christopher Walken e John Turturro ancora in vita, The White Lotus (24 candidature complessive) del geniale Mike White e The Last Of Us (16 totali), mentre a mancare sono le stagioni finali di The Handmaid’s Tale e Squid Game.
Tra le attrici protagoniste comedy appare insuperabie Jean Smart, che punta a conquistare il suo quarto Emmy consecutivo con Hacks, ma occhio ad Uzo Aduba, riuscita a strappare una candidatura nonostante la cancellazione choc di The Residence dopo una sola stagione. Fuori dai giochi Selena Gomez (Only Murders In The Building), Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along) e Natasha Lyonne (Poker Face). Tra le attrici drama Bella Ramsey è diventata la prima persona non binaria a strappare più di una nomination per The Last Of Us, mentre Kathy Bates è entrata nella Storia come attrice più anziana di sempre a riuscire nell’impresa (77 anni), superando Angela Lansbury.
Niente da fare per Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton) e Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets). Tra gli attori drama nessun volto dichiaratamente LGBTQIA+ ma un felice alleato come Pedro Pascal, candidato grazie a The Last of Us, mentre tra le attrici comedy non protagoniste potrebbe finalmente essere l’anno di Hannah Einbinder, che in Hacks interpreta un personaggio dichiaratamente bisessuale. In ambito maschile, nomination di peso per Colman Domingo, come miglior attore non protagonista in una comedy con The Four Seasons, per Bowen Yang, ancora una volta nominato grazie al Saturday Night Live, per Jeff Hiller con Somebody Somewhere e per Michael Urie con Shrinking. Quattro volti dichiaratamente queer nella stessa categoria.
Tra gli attori non protagonisti in una serie drama fa rumore l’assenza dei ‘fratelli incestuosi’ Patrick Schwarzenegger e Sam Nivola in The White Lotus, unici di fatto a non strappare una candidatura rispetto a colleghi e colleghe di set. Nomination più che meritata, invece, per Tramell Tillman di Scissione, gay dichiarato nella vita reale e chiamato a scontrarsi con il collega John Turturro.
In ambito miniserie, nessuno parrebbe poter battere il ‘fenomeno’ dell’anno Adolescence. A sfidare il progetto Netflix ci sono anche Black Mirror, Dying For Sex e Monsters: The Lyle & Erik Menendez Story, con Cooper Koch fresco di nuovo film di Guadagnino alla sua prima candidatura agli Emmy come miglior attore protagonista. Ma è difficile ipotizzare un trionfo, visti i rivali: Colin Farell per The Pengin e Stephen Graham per Adolescence.
Nominata anche Erin Doherty, lesbica dichiarata e nella miniserie Netflix negli abiti di una psicologa, così come il fenomenale Owen Cooper tra i non protagonisti, più giovane candidato di sempre con i suoi 15 anni. In ambito reality tv RuPaul ha raggiunto la sua decima candidatura come miglior conduttore, record di sempre, ma dovrà provare a battere Alan Cumming con il fenomeno The Traitors. Da segnalare tra i migliori documentari le nomination per Will & Harper, snobbato agli Oscar 2025, Pee-wee as Himself e Deaf President Now, co-diretto da Nyle DiMarco.
