Inizia una delle più importanti convention repubblicane a Cleveland: al termine di questo grande meeting verrà “ufficializzata” la candidatura di Donald Trump come candidato per le presidenziali dell’8 novembre.
La star assoluta dell’opening è stata però la moglie del magnate, Melania Trump, modella slovena naturalizzata statunitense, 46 anni (contro i 70 di Trump), un po’ una Francesca Pascale d’oltreoceano. Quello che ha colpito la stampa statunitense è l’estrema somiglianza del discorso tenuto da Melania ieri sera con uno tenuto da Michelle Obama, moglie dell’attuale presidente in carica Barack, ben 8 anni fa.
Ecco l’estratto (in inglese) del discorso della Trump:
My parents impressed on me the values: that you work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise. That you treat people with respect. They taught me to show the values and morals in my daily life. That is the lesson that I continue to pass along to our son. And we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow. Because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.
Questo invece è l’estratto del discorso di Michelle:
And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them. And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children — and all children in this nation — to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.
Abbiamo cercato di evidenziare i punti più simili e il risultato è che abbiamo evidenziato quasi tutto. C’è una vera e propria ripetizione pedissequa e stereotipata dello stilema: “Io e – mio marito presidente o presunto tale – siamo cresciuti con gli stessi valori: bisogna lavorare duro per ciò che si vuole nella vita. Bisogna passarli alla prossima generazione, perché vogliamo che i nostri figli sappiano che l’unico limite per i loro obiettivi sia la realizzazione dei propri sogni“.
E pensare che Melania aveva rivelato alla CNN: “L’ho scritto col minor aiuto possibile, ho lavorato con uno speechwriter per più di cinque settimane“. Meno male…
